Natural disaster or a natural event such as a flood, earthquake or hurricane that cause a great damage for properties as well as loss of life.

If something happened to the properties or things we can rebuild or replace them. We can estimate a value for them. But if something happened to the life, Can we rebuild or replace them? No we can’t. And even we can’t estimate a value for puppies.

I would like to ask a question from you. Do you think only human’s lives are more important? No it don’t. Not only humans’ lives but also animals’ lives are important too. As humans, animals also have a right to live on this earth.  

But, when natural disasters occur, have you ever thought what will happen to your pets? Most of the shelters decided to euthanize abandon pets.  

As we know, normally when a natural disaster occurs people go to shelters to escape their lives. There are so many people help volunteer for the people who faced this kind of a situation.

Government or any other organizations voluntarily help them to fulfill the needs of those people.

But what do you think about the animals? Do any organizations help them? Are there any shelters for them to survive?

Yes, there are pet friendly organizations. According to them, like this situation they should not only consider about the human, they should consider about the pet animals too.

Burgaw shelter is one of the shelter which helps volunteer for these victims animals.

On Tuesday night people and their pets went to bed happily. The next day when they woke up , they felt something was going to happen. The environment was not good. It was a gloomy day. The wind was blowing very fast. The signs of the natural disaster were visible and it was seem to be a hurricane.

Rafee is a rescue officer. He has a nine foot van. The nick name of the vehicle is Fluffy bus. As soon as possible he packed his bus and drove his vehicle very fast to escape the lives of poor pets.  There were 24 cats and dogs in the vehicle. It was sad to say there were many abandoned pets. But because of the Rafee those abandoned were rescued from euthanasia. People ran to save their life leaving their pets alone in their homes as they were in a highly tension at that moment.

Since Hurricane Florence pressure on the east coast Rafee drove his vehicle to the other side of the state. Because of the Hurricane Florence shelters were filled with the pets and people. On the way Rafee went to rescue group which is in Penylvania and handed over twenty and above dogs to them. The rest he took with him. He drove and drove his vehicle. Ultimately he stopped his vehicle at the petrol shed. Meantime he took a dog from the cage. The dog name was Neil Young Jr. It loved to cuddle with him. Rafee kept the Neil in his arm.

At the end both were homeless but they were safe.

Different people say their views about this situation.

Jawel Horton, A manager of Pender Country Animal Shelter said that it was costly to keep the pets in their shelters like this situation. So they said that they need a strong help to look after them.

According to the President of the Burgaw NC based Hunan society said “Animals are important than things. We can find a substitute for things. Places also we can rebuild. But for lives we cannot find any substitute.

The Horton said that the people ran away from this land without thinking about their family pets. There was not at least a single person here to take these poor pets with them.

The most important thing was shelter rescued many pet as much as they can. But Hortan said that he felt the efficiency of his staff should be improved a lot. Further he said that they need more staff to enhance the productivity of their service.

According to her, organization like the American Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Human society of US have become more insistent responding these kinds of disasters especially after Hurricane Katrina.

Conforming to the calculation 44% of people who did not run away from the area as they did not want to leave their pets alone.

But as reported by SPCA calculation more than 100000 animals were abandoned in this area. It was so painful and heartbreaking.

Furtherrmore he said all the animals’ shelters and the organization should hold their hands together to provide a good service for the pets’ during this kind of an emergency situation.
